Our prototype represents a significant step forward in addressing the challenge of weather information accessibility for farmers in Kajiado County. Developed through rigorous research and user testing, this solution combines USSD technology with agricultural expertise to deliver timely, localized weather data.
The system features:
- Multi-language support (English and Swahili) for broader accessibility
- Daily, weekly, and hourly weather forecasts tailored for agricultural needs
- Integrated agricultural advisory services including cropping calendars and pest control
- Low-bandwidth optimized for rural connectivity
- User-friendly interface designed for feature phones
This prototype was developed as part of our E-LAB challenge, incorporating feedback from local farmers and agricultural experts to ensure relevance and usability in real-world conditions.
